Well, it appears I’ve procrastinated my way to almost the end of May. My intent was to sit down and write a post months ago, but I placed the idea lovingly on the back burner and there it stayed. Until today 🙂
So, here a few more thoughts on writing a book. These things, I’m finding, are particularly important at this stage of my writing journey!
Mindset Matters
I’m finding mindset is becoming more and more important as the journey rolls on. This is where we need to continually revisit our ‘why’. Keep believing in yourself and your project. These things take time. It can be challenging, but this is definitely not the time to give in to doubts or defeating self-talk!
Vision Boards and Affirmations
Keeping your eye on the prize is necessary, but not always easy. In my experience, a publishing vision board and affirmations have helped me stay focused. Keep these reminders where you can see them. Talk about your book as though it already exists. Use the word ‘when’, not ‘if’. Hold your vision. And while it’s a gift to have people in our lives that support us along the way, the truth is, you’re the driving force. You’re the one that’s invested your heart and soul and a whole lot of time into your project. Keep going. Each day is one step closer to your goal.
Trust the Process
I’m currently in the submission stage, waiting to hear back from publishers. I’ll admit, the silence is difficult, but I think we have to remind ourselves that writing a book and getting it published takes time. We need to trust that everything is as it should be. (This is daily work, by the way!) But realistically, this stuff doesn’t happen overnight. You’re showing up, doing what you need to do. Keep believing in the intention you’ve set.
Oh, and one last thing…
You’ve got this.
